People seized control of their destinies in Russiain 1917, lighting a beacon of hope against war and exploitation. A revolutionary mass movement rose up against the horrors of the First World War demanding ‘Peace, bread and land’ and ‘All power to the workers’ councils.’
Many have distorted the revolution’s story, but this was no bloody coup. October was democracy and liberation in practice. Today, in the face of war, poverty and oppression around the globe, come and debate the legacy of October 1917.
